Our Story …
Back in 2003, I was living in Geneva and noticed that Switzerland was almost totally ignored by bicycle tour companies. I would go to France, Italy or Spain and see big groups of foreign cyclists. Switzerland had the bicycle paths, train network & tourism infrastructure, but was not attracting the same number of cyclists.
I decided to plan out a bicycle trip and do a “one off” trip for a group of Americans to test the waters. I started looking at some of the bigger bicycle tour companies to see what I could learn. I was pretty surprised by what I found: the trips were very expensive, the guides were not local, the bikes were mediocre.
- Be specialists: one country, four tours… and we’ve been doing this for eleven years.
- Be local: Our guides live here. They spend the entire year biking the roads you’ll be on.
- Be affordable: Quality gear, good food and nice hotels need not be expensive.
- The bikes: Offer riders bikes that are equal to or better than what they use at home.
These principals give our tours consistency and value. Sign up for a Bike Switzerland tour and you know exactly what you’re getting.
Of course, we can’t take all the credit for putting on a good tour.
After all, this is Switzerland.
